Incident at Besancon is a documentary project that tells the story of World War II veteran Robert D. Maxwell, Oregon’s only surviving Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. On a moonless night at a farmhouse near the strategic village of Besancon, Maxwell and a handful of GI’s were surprised by a platoon of heavily armed Nazi infantry. Outnumbered six to one, and with the enemy closing to within ten yards, the four Americans, armed only with .45 pistols and under withering machine gun fire, found cover behind a crumbling stone wall. When a German hand grenade fell into their position, Corporal Maxwell covered the explosion with his body and saved the lives of his comrades. Incident at Besancon is being produced in co-operation with Film Action Oregon (www.filmaction.org), as part of the Film Action Oregon non-profit Project Partners Program. Your corporate or personal tax deductable contribution will help finish this film and ensure that Robert Maxwell's story - our story - lives forever. See the Film Action Oregon website for details on how you might participate. |
